It's true that my father, Alberto Rey Games, was unable to compete in the Pan American games in Kingston, Jamaica due to a wrist injury which essentially 'retired him' from the sport of Weight Lifting. In his replacement, Sergio Oliva- Cuba's second place winner- was sent in the 197 lb Division along with the rest of the Cuba's Weight Lifting Team. The team would eventually 'defect' and the rest is history for Sergio Oliva. However, my father, who stayed behind in Cuba, didn't sell out his team mates by informing the Cuban Government that the entire team was planning to defect; something which he knew. I believe that Sergio's nickname of "the Myth" was given to him because Segio was known to have misrepresent himself as Cuba's 1962 National Weight Lifting Champion since being selected to replace my father in Jamaica; a noted fact even by the coach Mr. Rafael Guerrero (former Cuban Olympian). In fact, Sergio even had a 'voodoo doll' with pins and needles on a alter with an article of my father prior to the National's in Havana, Cuba. This as told to my father by a lifter nicknamed "El Trolo" [the troll], who visited Sergio's home and destroyed the voodoo doll.

On October 21, 1974, the Central Intelligence Agency along with Alpha 66 orchestrated an 'attempted assassination' of my father while building a Sea Service Tanker at Todd Shipyard in San Pedro, California- in a time when Cuban Athletes were 'fair targets' of the extreme right-wing politics of the United States; a fact which has been well documented and proven today. Matter of fact, my father survived the 'attempted assassination' and our family only learned of this 'attempted assassination' in 2006, and today my father was illegally removed from Mexico and taken to the United States, and is being held against the will of my mother because of "National Security" interest. On that fateful day, he survived a two-ton sheet metal which was made to fall from height of 50 feet, making it appear 'accidental.' He survived. And, thirty-three years later, our family obtained the original medical chart, which 'falsely' states the following; consent for surgery with an "x","fell from a beam", "hospitalized for dementia one year prior", "Mexican Illiterate", "Only Lacerations", "Normal Neurology." In 2006, we learned that the United States Navy had intentionally altered the vessel archives so that the vessels did not coincide with the 'assassination attempt', and that my father was missing his entire left lobe of the brain; as confirmed by "SST" Diagram contained in the file and a CT Scan on March 15, 2006.
